It's Time to Dream Again!

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

-Ephesians 3:20 MSG

In Mark Batterson’s book, The Circle Maker, he informs the reader of the concept of circling our needs, desires and dreams while praying. He encourages the reader to begin to see God as a big God who can do much more than we can imagine. The only prerequisite is faith and trust in God. Batterson instructs that prayer and dreams are connected. “The more you pray, the bigger your dreams will become. And the bigger your dreams become, the more you pray. In that process of ever enlarging prayer circles, the sphere of God’s glory is expanded.”

It may seem that your dreams are far from being fulfilled. You may have completely stopped dreaming and aspiring for greater things. You may be in a spiritual rut. Whatever your current situation, remember that it is not a new concept for God. He reminds us in His word that He can do ANYTHING! This means that he can do much more than our minds can conceive. He invites us to DREAM BIG! God wants us to challenge Him with our dreams. Allow the Holy Spirit to work within you to trust God with your wildest dreams.

Reflection/Testimony

As a child, I lost my mother at the age of 13. She was a woman of strength and perseverance. My father was not in the picture at the time. I was raised by my grandmother. My childhood dream was to have a traditional family with a mother and a father who loved his children.

This may seem very common to many; however coming from a culture of single family homes in the projects, this dream was one that seemed very distant. In my family none of the ladies had been married - which led to my next dream. It was to be married. Of course these dreams were secret dreams that I had hidden within my heart. I never told anyone about them. They may have even been forgotten at one point in time.

As I grew older, I could feel my dream of a whole family slipping away. Most of my relationships ended up in disaster. Nobody seemed to be marriage material. I began to think that it would never happen. But…God had bigger and better plans for my life. He allowed me to get married in a church to a Christian man who cherishes and loves me dearly. We have five children between us. Our family is whole. My dreams have manifested. I couldn’t be more fulfilled.

This scripture reminds me that God can do anything. If he can take a girl from the projects and place her in a godly marriage, believe me – he can do anything. The best is yet to come for us as a family!

Dreams

By Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow.
