The Source of Our Refreshment

Isaiah 9:6 -- For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 7:14 -- Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (Prophecy).

Introduction – Where is Waldo?

I am not sure if this game is still played but when was younger there was a game called Where is Waldo? In this game, Waldo is a little guy who wore glasses with red and white striped shirt and black pants. This game is played by simply finding Waldo in a very busy picture. That’s it. Yep, it sounds lame but that is it. You see, the author of the picture was very skillful at hiding Waldo in the picture so that the naked eye has trouble finding him. When you see the picture, you have to look very hard to find Waldo. Waldo is blended in with the background or hidden under or behind something. It takes some time and effort to find Waldo.

In today’s society, Jesus has been hidden in all of the commercialism and pursuit of the mighty dollar during in our lives. I mean society has treated Jesus like the poor old Waldo - you have to look very hard to locate Him. Jesus should not be like WALDO…We should be able to FIND Jesus in our everyday lives.

Jesus is the one who was sent to SAVE us. You may have heard people call themselves SAVED. This only means that they have confessed their sins and they believe that Jesus is the Son of God. It may sound simple because it is. Jesus is our Savior. He was sent by God to this world to live on the earth. While Jesus was here, He performed miracles to display God’s power and love for His people. He healed the sick people, raised the dead people, He did great and mighty things before He was crucified. Jesus came so that people could see firsthand that God cares about us.

What does this mean to me?

You may be reading and wondering what does this mean to me? I am highlighting Jesus right now because I believe that Jesus wants to make a difference in your life. Whether you already know Jesus as your personal Savior or this may be the first time you have taken time to actually listen to someone talk about Jesus this much-whatever the case, I believe that Jesus can change your life. He is right here with us every day. He is watching over us every day.

Lord,

Thank You for sending your son Jesus to sacrifice is life for us! You are a great God who loves Your people. You are a great God.
